The Loomba Foundation, on 27th and 29th of November, organized Charity Gala Dinner at Gurugram and Mumbai respectively to celebrate 20th anniversary of The Loomba Foundation and to launch the partnership project with the Rotary India Literacy Mission. The event aimed to raise funds for the joint project of RILM and The Loomba Foundation to empower 30,000 impoverished widows and educate 2000 children of widows in India. Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) has joined hands in partnership with The Loomba Foundation to work with 30,000 widows in India. This partnership will work towards providing necessary literacy and livelihood skills to the widows to enable them to live a life of dignity. The project will also send 2000 children of these widows, who have dropped out of school or never been to school, back to school.

The Chief Advisor of RILM and the Trustee Chair of the Rotary Foundation, PRIP Kalyan Banerjee signed the final agreement with The Loomba Foundation at London on the 23rd June, 2017. Living the very spirit of The Rotary Foundation, of 'providing service to others' and 'advancing world understanding, goodwill and peace through the fellowship of community leaders', this project is the beginning of a beautiful journey, that RILM and The Loomba Foundation has set foot on. The two partners will work hand in hand to help the widows re-write their own future and their children's. The interested Rotary Districts/Clubs will work closely with the skill training partners to identify the beneficiaries. Upon approval of the grant the implementing agency will start with the training. Post training, all the beneficiaries either be provided with a job opportunity or supported to start their own small business.
